But one kindly teacher, Miss Honey (Lashana Lynch), introduces Matilda to books and from that point onwards, her world becomes more magical. Like the original stage version of Matilda the Musical, the movie features songs by Tim Minchin and the cast of Matilda The Musical performed at this year’s West End Live, a free weekend of musical theatre in Trafalgar Square. Lauren Byrne as Miss Honey performed My House, Laurel Sumberg – who shares the title role – performed Naughty, and composer and lyricist Tim Minchin performed his original version of When I At the end of the story, with the help of Matilda’s powers, Miss Honey finally breaks free from the chains of Miss Trunchbull and her cruelty.
